InterSPOT puts the puzzle together and proudly presents the two final pieces:

Awkward I (NL) is a band of four members playing seven different instruments and centered around the mellow vocals of songwriter Djurre de Haans. Their aptly named debut album ”I Really Should Whisper” was released in 2009.

Estonian trio Kirtana Rasa mixes instruments from Estonia, India, Africa and Indonesia to a special soundscape, where the warmth of the south meets the cool of the north. The songs deal with themes like nature and philosophy.

InterSPOT takes place on May 20 at seven Århusian venues, each radiating a different mood. Awkward I and Kirtana Rasa will both be playing at Café Hack, where – along with The Bear That Wasn’t (BE) – they will create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere under the label ”cosy”.

InterSPOT is held for the first time this year. With more than twenty acts spread over the seven venues, the mini festival is the biggest international manifestation in the history of SPOT Festival. The programme presents a wide variety of the latest musical styles and tendencies from countries like Hungary, New Zealand, Greece, Austria and Israel.

Acts like Sophie Hunger (CH) and Austrian Bauchklang can be seen here for the first time before they continue to tour the European festivals this summer. Other unique experiences are Greek indie band Film, New Zealand’s Bachelorette and German Glitterbug, whose experimental electronica is complemented by visuals from Israeli artist Ronni Shendar. Also in the line-up is five singer/songwriters from Texas, who will be playing under the collective name of The Austin Five.

Tickets for InterSPOT are not available in advance. The audience can show up directly at one of the seven venues - Train, Musikcaféen, Café Hack, Vestergade 58, Fatter Eskil, Studenterhuset and Stubnitz. The entry fee is 20 kroner for each venue.

With these latest announcements, the full programmes for both the SPOT and InterSPOT Festivals are now revealed. All that’s left is to look forward to this summer’s most wide-ranging musical weekend on May 20-22!
