Quotes "SPOT is one of the greatest festivals I’ve ever been to!"
- Fruzsina Szép, Sziget Festival (HU) "Put aside prejudices and check it out. Turns out there is more to Danish music than Barbie Girl..."
- Neil McCormick, The Daily Telegraph v. SPOT 2009 |
All the way during Efterklang’s concert in Store Sal, people were queuing outside the doors in the hope of catching just a bit of the show.
- It doesn’t make any sense to me, said one journalist. - I understand the general ideal of minimizing the separation between VIP’s and the general audience, but when something like this happens, it hinders the overall purpose of the festival, which is to promote the music. The curious audience outside the doors generally waited in good cheer. - We came here a bit late, because we were at the Specktors concert in Officerspladsen. So at least we got to see them – and they were great, said one girl. Another cheered up her waiting group of friends by blowing soap bubbles in the queue. - I’ve never seen Efterklang before except yesterday, when they played with Slaraffenklang. That was an amazing concert, so I really wanted to see them tonight, she said. When the doors finally opened after the show, a satisfied-looking crowd swarmed into the lobby. Among them was David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine, who was only able to see the last 20 minutes of the concert. He reacted with a shrug and a smile. - That’s how popular they are. But those last 20 minutes were great, he said. Anne & Christoffer - It was very beautiful. The band seems so open and sympathetic. Also I’ve never seen a concert in Store Sal before, and I really enjoyed the setting. It was spectacular. I was quite moved, said Anne. Her brother Christoffer, who had played with his band Li Dinê at ArcHauz earlier in the evening, was equally impressed. Efterklang is becoming quite a big name in Denmark, as we can see here tonight. What do you think of the fact that their latest album, “Magic Chairs”, is also their most easily accessible? - Some are sceptical and afraid that they will ‘sell out’, but I don’t agree with that. I think they’re improving their artistic expression, getting to the core of what they are trying to say, he said.
