Metal SPOT – The Nordic Explosion: Massive line-up on Friday 21st May with no less than six metal bands.

After last year’s successful strategy of increasing the focus on metal, the SPOT Festival has joined forces with the organizers Metal Royale and Danish Metal Awards to present Metal SPOT – The Nordic Explosion at the Aarhus venue Studenterhuset on Friday 21st May.
It will be a unique setting for a total of six concerts from all corners of the world of metal, and the ambition is to attract important representatives of the international metal business – including media, record companies, booking agencies, etc.

Among the acts that the metal fans will be in for are Kellermensch, who were also in the SPOT line up last year, where they were approached by English manager Tim Hole after their gig at the festival. Since then they have played radio sessions on the British radio stations XFM and BBC1. They are known for their way of blending heavy rock with an upright bass, violins and a pump organ creating a sound that is a crossover of Neurosis, Tom Waits and Nick Cave.

Another familiar set of faces is The Psyke Project who will be eager to play their hardcore metal for the SPOT audience. The band has existed for many years by now, but last year’s critically acclaimed album was ample proof that they are still part of the elite in Danish metal.

Aalborg band Essence excel in thrash metal that establishes links to Artillery, Testament and Metallica. They are currently recording their debut album.

Critical Mass are to be found in a musical no man’s land where genre labels seem obsolete. With that as their point of departure Critical Mass conjure up a complex and uncompromising sound. Malrun play melodious hard rock with everything that that implies- from high speed to ballads.

There will also be Belgian visitors: The Link, who play hardcore metal, were selected for this occasion by Danish Metal Awards after their representatives had seen the band at the Belgian metal award show.

Finally we would like to remind you that the regular SPOT line up also features some metal acts –namely Dødning, The Kandidate and Scarred By Beauty as previously announced.

There is free access for people with SPOT access wristbands to the event, but it is also possible to pay DKK 70 at the venue to get in to Metal SPOT – The Nordic Metal Explosion.
