Kellermensch at Roskilde - now they head for the Danish Night at Reeperbahn.
Kellermensch at Roskilde - now they head for the Danish Night at Reeperbahn.
With no less than nine bands  Denmark is – once again – one of the most well represented nations at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, which takes place in the area around the famous entertainment/ red light street.

Well, the Germans seem to have developed a taste for Danish music. Actually, the members of the German jury who at this year’s SPOT festival were asked to select the bands who now form the line up for the SPOT On Denmark Night on 25 September at Indra had quite a lot of suggestions on their individual lists of suitable bands before they eventually decided on Kellermensch, Ginger Ninja, The Rumour Said Fire and Thee Attacks.

Danish Gems
According to the reporter Henning Fuhrbach from the lifestyle magazine Pianha (circulation 122,000) there were “once again this year some real gems waiting to be discovered in the massive range of acts” at the SPOT Festival. On the eve of the showcase in Hamburg he has the following to say about the bands:

- I saw Thee Attacks at SPOT. Their songs and performance pack a lot of punch, and the lads are good-looking. Their sound is pretty traditional, but really energetic and convincing. The Rumour Said Fire have also got tremendous potential. They have got some really good songs that stick, and they perform them with precision. Their future looks promising.
Besides Fuhrbach and Piranha the following agencies and media have been part of the German jury at SPOT that selected the four bands: Scorpio, Byte.FM, Sunday Service,  Eldoradio, Concertnews.de, Headquarter Entertainment as well as the magazines Kinki, Intro and Uncle Sally’s.
Old Beatles Club
The four SPOT On Denmark acts are going to play at the venue Indra – the club where The Beatles embarked on their Hamburg adventure  50 years ago (on 17 August 1960). What’s more, in addition to the four SPOT On Denmark bands five other acts have found their way to Hamburg: Marie Fisker, Murder, Lars And The Hands Of Light, Nabiha and The Broken Beats will all be playing gigs during the three festival days.

Nordic Bar
Generally speaking there are many Nordic bands at the Reeperbahn Festival this year – no less than 35 bands actually. And to emphasize the feeling of a massive Nordic presence at the festival there is Nomex Pub, which is organized and hosted by the music export councils of the five countries – in Denmark MXD in collaboration with the Music Committee of the Danish Arts Council. The Nomex Pub will be situated in the heart of Reeperbahn more precisely in Spielbudenplatz 28, which is normally known as Glanz&Gloria. The Nomex Pub will be open during the festival noon till 5 pm. Nordic Music business people are welcome to use the bar as their rendezvous.

Network Event
Before the SPOT On Denmark showcase kicks off on Saturday 25 September at eight PM, MXD hosts a two-hour network event at the club from half past five PM which will bring together Danish and German music business people. The Network event is NOT just for those who are involved in the Danish Night – all Danish music business people at the Reeperbahn are welcome.
