A bit past midnight, a long line of people was walking down the hill from the main festival site down to the Voxhall venue to see the popular Danish band When Saints Go Machine. It had been a long day filled with music and impressions, yet the crowd did not seem too tired. The only exception was a drunken man who jumped up on a barrel, clapped a couple of times and fell asleep. Amused spectators took photos of him, and he sat there for the whole duration of the concert, only waking up a couple of times to clap to the music.

Band greeted with cheers

Both floors were packed with fans and loud cheers were heard when the band came up on stage. People took pictures, swayed their light sticks to the music and jumped ecstatically. The lead singer, Nikolaj Vonsild, shouted “Let’s turn up the pace – it’s Friday”, whereafter they played one of the more upbeat songs, which made even more people jump. A couple of guys were spotted crowdsurfing. By the time of the last song, nearly everybody was totally immersed in the music and jumped to the beat.

After what seemed to be the last song, about half of the crowd rushed into the still warm night after a long day at the festival, or perhaps they went to one of the SPOT after-parties. Only the biggest fans were left in Voxhall, and they were rewarded by an extra song.

Ecstatic fan

- It was absolutely fantastic, exclaimed Rikke from Copenhagen. She has seen When Saints Go Machine several times, yet she thought they seemed more energetic tonight. “The audience is also more active in the evening than at daytime, so it’s a good thing they played this late,” said the fan, who was obviously not too tired to enjoy the concert.

Other artists were seen at the concert
Other artists and bands came to the concert as well. For instance, members of BenniHemmHemm had come down to Voxhall to check out When Saints Go Machine.

- I followed a friend. I have never seen them before. But it was amazing. Very good, said one of the band members.

As people left the concert area, a few people stayed to discuss the concert energetically. And along the wall, tired from all the impressions of the day, a drunk man was sitting on a barrel.
