20-year-old Sandra Hakky has been blessed with a great musical talent, distinctiveness, and an attitude all of which are evident on last year’s eponymous debut album. She has written all the songs herself, and the style emanates from vintage soul, but the genre never becomes a constraint on the songs. Street and club music also contributes to the sound and there is also room for pop and r’n’b in Hakky’s modern and personal take on soul.
